In this paper we discuss MetaLinks, a framework and authoring tool for web-based adaptive hyper-books. We focus on how features of the system address the problem issues of disorientation, cognitive overload, discontinuous flow (poor narrative flow or poor conceptual flow), and content nonreadiness.
