Abstract

In this paper we propose a Rapid-Prototyping System (RPS) focusing on interprocessor/-module communication. Integrated in a design environment for embedded mixed hardware/software systems the RPS facilitates design space exploration and validation of communication links. The reprogrammable system architecture allows prototyping of different topologies, communication types and protocols and will be supported by a powerful tool set for automatic system configuration. An integrated hardware monitoring facility extracts on-line data about I/O-channel activities for performance evaluation and enhancement of arbitrary communication channels within the system.
