Abstract

The so-called "blue-c" is a novel three sidedimmersive projection system, which has been especiallydesigned to support telecollaborative teamwork [4].Therefore, special projection screens are used, which canbe switched to a transparent state electrically. The user iscaptured with sixteen cameras in total, standing outsideof the projection room. These images are then processedto create a 3D representation of the user, which can beprojected in a second installation. The whole installationhas been engineered and implemented at the ETH Zurich[9]. A special active stereo projection system, based onLCD projectors with additional shutters proved to workvery well at a very competing price. The paper describesthe background of the decisions made and the problemsthat had to be overcome.
