The status of preliminary efforts to evaluate image processing computers is reported. The author focuses on the use of the Abingdon Cross, a benchmark test for evaluating image processing computers. The task of the benchmark is to find the medial axis of a cross in a noisy background. Results from testing 51 machines are presented.
