Visualization is an interdisciplinary area drawing on work done in a variety of areas, such as graphic design, cinematography, typography, animation, and human computer interaction. During the last few years there has been an increasing trend within the evolutionary computation community to apply visualization techniques to facilitate people's understanding and use of evolutionary algorithms. This chapter is intended to provide an introductory review of the existing work done on visualizing evolutionary computation and identify some of the key directions for future research.
