Abstract

This paper is tutorial in nature in that it applies known techniques to control the execution of processes in a multiprocessor multiprogram environment. Aspects of the software and hardware needs in a multiprocessor system are discussed. An example hardware system of the less expensive mini or micro processors is used to help illustrate the control software needed. A framework of a small set of control routines is presented for controlling the concurrent execution of processes. Finally, a number of open ended questions on how the system may be improved are brought to the reader's attention.
