Garment modeling is important to virtual characters and virtual environments. Comparing traditional approach, sketch-based garment modeling method is intuitive and easy to use. However, the surface created by existing sketch-based methods lack interactively and iteratively editing. Driven by these considerations, we propose a method for creating a garment harness similar to the mannequin. Garment surface is constructed from garment harness which is composed of constrained contour curves. Then garment harness is able to edit interactively through sketching gestures by adding some appropriate constraints. We have demonstrated some examples to validate our method. The result shows that our method can simplify garment modeling tasks to a certain extent, and therefore it is useful for garment and movie industry to model virtual garment.
