A method for active failure detection and isolation in linear systems subject to inequality-bounded perturbations is presented. This method, under a detectability condition, can guarantee detection and isolation of failures. To make the failures detectable, the injection of a test signal is proposed. A method for testing whether the test signal is proposed. A method for testing whether the test signal does make the failures detectable is presented. Under certain conditions, a method fro designing test signals which achieve detectability is also given.
