Abstract

Humans use context to make interpersonal interactions richer, especially when they talk face to face. However, when chatting electronically, they have little or no knowledge of the context of the party with whom they are chatting. This is because a chat program restricts the communication between two users to simple text messages. In this article, the authors present ConChat, a context-aware chat program that enriches electronic communication providing contextual information and resolving potential semantic conflicts between users.
