Abstract

This paper presents the findings of, to the best ofour knowledge, the first survey on software testingpractices carried out in Australian ICT industry. Atotal of 65 organizations from various major capitalcities in Australia participated in the survey, whichwas conducted between 2002 and 2003.The survey focused on five major aspects ofsoftware testing, namely testing methodologies andtechniques, automated testing tools, software testingmetrics, testing standards, and software testingtraining and education. Based on the survey results,current practices in software testing are reported, aswell as some observations and recommendations forthe future of software testing in Australia for industryand academia.
