Abstract

An MPEG-4 audio-visual scene is composed of various types of media data represented as individual objects. It includes a scene description that refers to the spatio-temporal specification and behavior of individual objects. In this paper, we propose an MPEG-4 contents authoring system for generating MPEG-4 audio-visual scenes, by providing the visual environment for building the spatio-temporal scenario of media objects comprising the scene. The system, called MPEG-4 STUDIO, provides a comprehensive set of facilitative editing tools for composing MPEG-4 scenes, as well as tools for the automatic generation of creative MPEG-4 contents. The system's authoring environment and the process of generating MPEG-4 contents are presented in detail.
