This paper discusses a new line routing algorithm. The algorithm uses a line searching scheme based on topological properties of objects in a continuous plane. It is believed to have the speed, accuracy and low memory performance properties of Hightower's router. It is shown that this router has the added features that it can guarantee a connection, when possible, without resorting to an exhaustive search and it can handle "preferential" routing.
