Abstract

Browser games are commonly created using commercial technologies like Flash and Silverlight or complex setups involving Java applets. In this work we propose to create an open source platform for the creation of simple browser games using HTML 5 and Javascript. Attached to this platform we will also create an open game content library to be used in the creation of the games. The complete framework will allow the creation of browser games using open source technologies and open content media. We also intend to study the interactions between the various users of the system (game creators, content creators and players) to validate the open source/open content approach to the creation of games.
