Abstract

The emerging technology of control networks is considered from a control theoretic viewpoint. A simple model of a network is proposed, and stabilizability of a distributed system whose local controllers are connected by a network is addressed. It is shown that the use of networks can enlarge the class of plants to be stabilized, and moreover that the capability of the system can be enhanced, in terms of assignability measure, by increasing the signal transmission over the network. A toy example is given with simulation results to illustrate the theory.
