In this paper we describe ASIES, a project funded by the Spanish Minsterio de Economía y Competitividad, that seeks to provide technologies to support independent living for people with special needs, while broadening the use of these technologies by integrating their capabilities with that of Social Networks. This integration supplies a social dimension, traditionally used in supporting daily activities and training, to the possibilities of Adaptive Hypermedia and Ambient Intelligence.
