The authors describe an approach to early concept development for tangible user interfaces that uses a solid diagram-a 3D "sketch" created using simple construction materials. It is intended for use in the earliest stages of research and product concept development as an alternative to paper-and-pencil brainstorming sessions. This department is part of a special issue on rapid prototyping.
