Abstract

The implementations of user assistance in most commercial computing applications deployed today have a number of well known difficulties and limitations. Speech technology can be used to complement traditional user assistance techniques and mitigate some of these problems. This paper describes the implementation of an auditory assistance system, and discusses some of the issues encountered in the design and development relevant to such systems.
