From the Publisher:Despite the teen craze for text messaging on cell phones, most of us think that trying to e-mail or surf the Net on a handset is a big pain. That's because combined devices are very hard to use. In sales of mobile devices, we're seeing massive product failure on a scale hard to fathom in this day and age. WAP has already provided an example of technology that looks great on paper but proves to be unusable. If wireless is going to meet its growth goals, the world has to figure out how to make mobile products that users like. All of our reader segments-broadcast, telephony, and datacom-have a stake in the outcome.
