Abstract

This article presents a comparison of several schemes for spectral sampling, computation, and resultant color display. In addition to traditional RGB computation, color computation schemes including XYZ computation, spectral sampling, computation, and reconstruction have appeared in the literature. However, little comparative analysis is available to aid in evaluating the performance of these methods for any rendering task. This study attempts to reveal the relevant considerations in selecting a color computation space. Additionally, a normalized RGB method discussed here reasonably handles computation involving a combination of both spectral and RGB color specification for noncritical color applications or for quick approximate shading
