Abstract

This paper summarizes the fourth EvaluatingCollaborative Enterprises (ECE) workshop, held as partof the 12th IEEE International Workshops on EnablingTechnologies: Infrastructure for Collaborationconference (WETICE 2003), at the Johann KeplerUniversity, Linz, Austria. This paper introduces theseven papers presented and summarizes thepresentations and ensuing discussions of theparticipants of the ECE workshop. In addition to thediscussions following the papers, a panel session washeld. This report sets the scene by summarizing thedevelopment of the Evaluation workshops over the pastfour years, and assesses the current state of practice inEvaluation of Collaborative Enterprises. Paper topicsin this workshop addressed evaluation at differentstages of the development process and evaluationmethodologies at groupware evaluation. Discussionaddressed effectiveness measurement, selection ofappropriate instruments and different perspectives fromgroup members.
