Abstract

In the proposed work, an attempt has been made to create an interactive virtual class room for teaching and learning using Web3D (3 Dimension). A framework for presenting video lecture in a 3D authenticated space has been proposed with multiple users viewing and learning collaboratively. The challenging issues like presenting a video in a web based 3D environment is addressed by exploiting the Java platform technologies such as Java3D (J3D) and Java Media Framework (JMF). A virtual building and class rooms are modeled and rendered in 3D space to give the learner a rich 3D experience. The virtual walk through inside the building and class room entries are similar to how the learners attend day to day classes to learn a course. A complete flexibility in teaching and learning has been explored and the results have proven the same.
