Abstract

We describe a geometric basis for the visualization of time-varying volume data of one or several variables as they occur in scientific and engineering applications. We demonstrate a prototype interface for gridded data, extending the contour Spectrum interface of Bajaj, Pascucci and Schikore to higher dimensions and to topological properties that are not decomposable. We also describe a data structure for pentatope meshes that supports the computation of isosurfaces and their properties.
