To achieve accurate registration, the transformationswhich locate the tracking system components with respectto the environment must be known. These transformationsrelate the base of the tracking system to the virtual worldand the tracking system's sensor to the graphics display. Inthis paper we present a unified, general calibration methodfor calculating these transformations. A user is asked toalign the display with objects in the real world. Using thismethod, the sensor to display and tracker base to worldtransformations can be determined with as few as threemeasurements.
