Abstract

Remedial students have difficulties in reading either before or during or after the reading session. Before the reading session, they have less interest and motivation to read. During the reading session, they have lack of engagement while after reading session, they do not really remember and understand what they have just read. This research aims to study the development of augmented reality storybook (AR Baca-Pulih) which provides motivation, engagement and enjoyable experience. The development process involves the comprehension of storybook contents and the design of AR flashcards. Stories are based on whole language and related to remedial students' environment. Level of language difficulty is structured in the form of easy, intermediate and advance. The design and development of AR flashcard are based on cognitive load theory. AR Baca-Pulih is evaluated by the experts using heuristics evaluation. Finally, usability study will be implemented to the remedial student for the evaluation.
