Abstract

Factored Edge-Valued Binary Decision Diagrams form an extension toEdge-Valued Binary Decision Diagrams. By associating both an additiveand a multiplicative weight with the edges, FEVBDDs can be used torepresent a wider range of functions concisely. As a result, thecomputational complexity for certain operations can be significantlyreduced compared to EVBDDs. Additionally, the introduction ofmultiplicative edge weights allows us to directly represent theso-called complement edges which are used in OBDDs, thus providing aone to one mapping of all OBDDs to FEVBDDs. Applications such asinteger linear programming and logic verification that have beenproposed for EVBDDs also benefit from the extension. We also presenta complete matrix package based on FEVBDDs and apply the package tothe problem of solving the Chapman-Kolmogorov equations.
